Cilegon, August 20, 2026 – To encourage businesses to adopt more environmentally and socially responsible practices while improving occupational safety and health, PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) and the Banten Provincial Industry and Trade Agency (Disperindag) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on policies and the implementation of Chemical Emergency Prevention and Response (P2KDBK) for the chemical industry in Banten Province.

The Head of the Banten Provincial Industry and Trade Agency, Dr. Iwan Hermawan, S.T., M.M., stated that Banten is recognized as a strategic industrial region with a significant concentration of chemical industries. “The presence of this industrial sector certainly makes a substantial contribution to both the regional and national economies. However, alongside this economic potential, the chemical industry also carries complex potential hazards and risks,” said Iwan Hermawan.

Iwan Hermawan explained that the discussion served as a platform to evaluate and align policies, strengthen industrial preparedness, and build cross-sector collaboration to reduce potential risks, particularly in Banten Province. The initiative also supports compliance with Minister of Industry Regulation No. 19 of 2019 concerning the Prevention and Response to Chemical Emergencies in Industrial Business Activities, as well as the circular regarding the preparation and certification of P2KDBK documents issued by the Director General of Chemical, Pharmaceutical, and Textile Industries (IKFT) on June 24, 2026.

Under these requirements, industrial companies must submit their P2KDBK documents and letters of commitment to certify the documents no later than November 30, 2026.

“The impact of a chemical emergency is not limited to material losses for the industrial sector. It can also affect the lives and safety of workers, surrounding communities, and the preservation of the environment. Therefore, policies and implementation systems for Chemical Emergency Prevention and Response (P2KDBK) are essential and must be implemented consistently, in an integrated manner, and continuously by every chemical industry operator in Banten Province,” said Iwan Hermawan.

He added that chemical industry safety and security are not merely matters of fulfilling administrative or regulatory obligations, but also represent a tangible expression of humanitarian responsibility and business sustainability. “Through this discussion, we hope to generate constructive ideas, practical policy recommendations, and concrete measures to strengthen chemical risk mitigation in Banten Province,” Iwan Hermawan emphasized.

In line with this initiative, Iyus Darmawan, Head of PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) Cilegon Branch, stated that as a state-owned enterprise operating in Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC), SUCOFINDO is ready to support mitigation efforts and reduce potential chemical hazards in Banten Province.

“SUCOFINDO remains committed to implementing sustainability principles, particularly in the chemical industry. We are here to provide solutions to prevent and minimize potential chemical hazards and are ready to support the transition toward a more sustainable industry,” said Iyus Darmawan.

In accordance with its role, PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) is ready to contribute actively, including as a Verification Institution for Chemical Emergency Prevention and Response (P2KDBK) in Chemical Industry Business Activities, as appointed through the Indonesian Minister of Industry Decree No. 6 of 2025, dated January 3, 2025.

“As an independent Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) institution, SUCOFINDO is ready to support the implementation of established regulations to ensure compliance with applicable standards and requirements, thereby helping protect workers and the environment while supporting business sustainability,” said Iyus Darmawan.

Iyus Darmawan further emphasized that Chemical Emergency Prevention and Response (P2KDBK) requires shared commitment, preparedness, and cross-sector collaboration to ensure that potential risks can be anticipated and addressed quickly and appropriately.

“Through the consistent implementation of safety procedures, competency development, and strong coordination, we hope to create a safe working environment that is responsive to emergencies and committed to achieving zero accidents.”

“PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO), particularly its Cilegon Branch, is ready to provide comprehensive assistance in implementing P2KDBK. With our expertise and experience, we are prepared to help ensure that every stage complies with applicable requirements and standards, enabling chemical emergency response measures to be carried out effectively, measurably, and sustainably,” Iyus Darmawan concluded.
